Hello Aries, the first sign of the Zodiac. Aries rules over the head and is ruled by Mars. It’s a fire sign that symbolizes energy, health, impulsiveness, leadership, passion and aggression. Aries natives operate on a high level of energy. Think of the Big Bang or when God created the Universe. It may be that God said, “Let there be light.” And then the Universe was created, so yes words have immense power, but I also feel deep down that the high voltage, ferocious, wild amount of power and energy those words had to be spoken with had to be explosive! There wasn’t a Better Homes and Gardens recipe on Pinterest board that God followed. It was pure, raw, and piercing energy to create and like all artists know, creating takes a lot of energy and emotion, all kinds of emotion, and so I just cannot surmise that God took a controlled and cautious approach to putting His energy, His creative force into everything. It was a Divine impulse and outpouring of primal energy. This is Aries.
As the first sign of the zodiac this is the archetypal baby. A fresh, new expression of soul and its mission. Aries doesn’t have a defined understanding or any for that matter of the collective past. Aries is more like this place, or the Sun at dawn breaking through, a blank canvas ready to be primed for a masterpiece, the birth canal ready to push through new life into the world. Aries natives are headstrong, impulsive, raw, independent, adventurous, creative, hard workers; they’re curious, susceptible to temperamental outburst, prone to crisis and conflict, and ready to explode with energy. Aries are assertive, fighters for the underdogs, courageous, freedom-loving, natural born leaders. Their heartbeat is a pulse infused with fiery passion struck by the finger of God to go out and be the starter, the beginner, the initiator.
It’s truly a lot of energy to contend with. Their soul’s mission is to declare and affirm their birthright to independence and having a unique identity. They go through countless experiences that will evolve their identity throughout their life. Aries adapt to change and welcome risks, adventure, challenges, and confrontation. They grow their sense of self through experiences, so they’re constantly reforming and refining themselves. It’s like an ongoing process of getting to know who they are through the event sin their life. They’re a brand new soul on a cosmic journey. Think of Pisces, the last sign of the Zodiac, the old soul, they’ve come, they’ve lived, learned, and Pisces represents the end of the cycle. Whereas Aries is just letting out their first cry to tell the world they are here. They always have a new self to develop. Just as babies don’t quite have a sense of self and rely on others to learn about who they are, about behavior, and life.
Aries are often interested in the human mind, but mostly they’re interested because they need to learn more about their own minds. Aries aren’t great at being objective in analyzing themselves or being self-aware. They watch others around them. They watch how people react to them. They’re curious about why people behave the way they do, especially in reaction the things that Aries natives say or do. Many Aries have an interest in psychology because it helps them to develop insight about who they are as a person. It helps them understand their behavior, what makes them tick, and what sets them off. They can come across as offensive, crass, grandiose, manic or hyperactive, and at times wildly inappropriate. It’s because Aries is learning about social cues. It takes us back the baby archetype.
This makes Aries very anxious about abandonment. They rely so much on picking up on cues from people around them to help them figure out who they are and to form self-actualization, that if they are abandoned by someone they care about it can be brutal for them. It crushes them and makes them feel lost. They need to have others around to help them feel and be who they are. I don’t mean t imply that Aries are co-dependent. Far from it. They’re very assertive and independent people. Look at Abraham Maslow and the Hierarchy of Needs. He was an Aries and he pretty much designed the perfect pattern of understanding for Aries natives. He developed a pattern of attaining individualization.
Aries are known for their tempers and being in a state of crisis. They can be quite self-sabotaging, too. Aries is the first of the fire signs and it’s like an uncontrollable forest fire, which is quite different from a controlled burn on a farmer’s field, or a cozy fire in the hearth of a winter cabin. Aries spend a lot of their life in crisis because to reiterate, they’re learning about how to conduct themselves and who they are. They’re forming what is known as self, what doesn’t really start to come into play until the Zodiac hits the next sign, Taurus. Aries is trying to figure out how to tame the fire within and deal with reality. Think of this energy as described earlier, like the Big Bang force. Aries oozes the fiery, primal, creative energy though every ounce of their being.
Aries are also known for being impatient. It’s quite a deep pot hole that leads to blowouts for them. They may start things they can’t or won’t finish. They don’t want to take every step needed to reach a goal. Aries has integrity, don’t get me wrong, but it’s just when they want something or someone they want it now. They can be too hasty in their desires and going after goals. They need friends that they trust, friends they feel like they can take advice from, and also help them to slow down a bit and think things all the way through without jumping the gun.
Aries are fighters not just in an inflammatory sense by being in conflict with others, but they fights for causes and the underdogs in life. They stand up for people, but what they want is for everyone to feel that they can stand up and be assertive. They’re quite courageous people, and they can also be quite forceful in imposing their opinions. They get irritated, but their emotions don’t last long. Aries are good people that don’t want their time wasted. They want everyone to feel passionate about something and have the freedom to pursue who they are. Aries are straightforward, shoot from the hip type people. They can be diplomatic when they want, but often need to remember tact. They’re decisive, and sharp at making a choice and solving problems. They don’t compromise well, but under the right circumstances they will. Just never expect an Aries to bend on anything that makes them feel like they have to give up their independence. They take responsibility seriously, not in the same way as a Capricorn, but Aries are cardinal signs and leaders, too. They’re a great ideas type of person. Brainstorm with an Aries to get new perspectives on things.
Aries natives must be granted freedom. If they have a job or partner that doesn’t allow freedom, look out, because Aries won’t last long with anything or anyone trying to pin them down and control their fire to only a farmer’s field. Aries are enthusiastic, confident, and have a fantastic sense of humor. They’re friendly and have an inner sense of what’s fair. They don’t like seeing anyone or anything being treated unfairly. “That’s not fair,” was probably first stated by an Aries. They don’t back down from hard tasks and can usually find creative approaches and out of the box, new ways of thinking.
Aries are prone to headaches. They’re sign rules over the head. It’s likely because of all the “newness” they’re experiencing. They’re busy building their personality, their “self.” They’re bursting at the seams with things to do, places to go, people to meet, and ideas to talk about. They’re soaking up everything, just like a brand new baby does as the infant grows into a toddler, then a child, and is learning everything about other people and their environment. Taking things head-on is perfectly Aries, perfectly Ram style, and it’s no wonder you’re likely to be prone to headaches.
Another mention to Aries, many athletes are born under the sign of Aries. I mean, I can’t imagine why, it couldn’t possibly be all that energy they have burning through them under the influence of Mars, the God of war and competitiveness.
